FULBRIGHT ICELAND
Melissa is the recipient of a Fulbright OpenStudy/ Research grant for the 2024-2025 cycle in Iceland. Her ten month long stay was mostly spent in Reykjavík working with the textile department at Myndlistaskólinn í Reykjavík (The Reykjavík School of Visual Arts). Melissa spent her time in Iceland meeting with local artisans in textiles and natural dyeing, designers, printers and fine artists. Melissa experimented with techniques using mordant pastes to print on textiles and using only naturally available sources for dyeing.
